R01
The bell
3:00
Three minutes of work. One minute to breathe. Twelve rounds, bell to bell. That’s a class at Parry.

Class clock
60:00
Sixty minutes,
on the bell.
00:00 – 06:00
Warm-up
Skipping rope, shadowboxing in the mirror, mobility for shoulders and hips. The coach watches your stance before anything else.
06:00 – 22:00 · R1–R4
Technique
Four rounds on one idea: the jab, the guard, the pivot. Drilled slowly, then at speed, with a correction in every rest minute.
22:00 – 38:00 · R5–R8
Bags
Four rounds on the heavy bags. Combinations called by the coach, the rest minute spent breathing, not chatting.
38:00 – 46:00 · R9–R10
Partner drills
Two rounds with a partner and focus mitts: one throws, one catches. No sparring unless you ask for it.
46:00 – 54:00 · R11–R12
Conditioning
Two rounds for the legs and the core: sprawls, burpees, holds. Short, hard, done.
54:00 – 60:00
Cool-down
Stretching, breathing, and a word from your coach on what to work on next time.

I came for the workout and stayed for the jab. Imani made me throw it for a whole round before anything else, and she was right.

The bell is the best part. You can do anything for three minutes, and then you get a minute to breathe.

I was the oldest and slowest in my first class. Nobody cared. Eight months later I still come four times a week.

Lunch Rounds saved my back and my afternoons. Forty-five minutes, showered, back at my desk.
